About Yoga
Yoga is a way, through the body and mind, to access the divine in ourselves - our truth - our souls.
The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit root 'yuj' which means 'to join'. Yoga is the science that teaches us the method of uniting the individual soul with the Supreme Soul, of merging the individual will in the Cosmic Will.
It starts with learning yoga postures (asanas)
in a methodical way which takes regular practice, time and humility.
In time the discipline of practising and learning becomes a daily routine taking us to a deeper level.
To develop as a yoga practitioner takes time, and over time there is a
development of capacities both physically and mentally. Yoga will give you
back in kind what you put into it. At first the benefits are perceived physically,
but as we develop stability and flexible strength we also grow mentally and emotionally.
We start to live our lives with clarity and discrimination, discerning what is helpful and
what is not, developing a respect for ourselves and for others.
About Reiki
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, an energy which is all around us.
Natural Healing
Reiki is the name given to a system of natural healing which evolved in Japan from the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui (d. 1926). Fired by a burning question, Dr Usui was inspired to develop this healing system from ancient teachings after many years of study, research and meditation. He spent the rest of his life practising and teaching Reiki. Today Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student.
There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive or learn to give a Reiki treatment, the only prerequisite is the desire to be healed.
A Reiki Treatment
The method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is a very simple process. The recipient simply lies on a couch and relaxes. If they are unable to lie down the treatment can be given in a sitting position, the main thing is for the recipient to be as comfortable as possible. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki will pass through anything, even plaster casts. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms. A full treatment usually takes 1 to 1½ hours with each position held for several minutes.
About Reflexology
A natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears and their referral areas within zone related areas, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes without the use of tools, crèmes or lotions, the feet being the primary area of application, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body
About Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage is based on the ancient healing system called Ayurveda.
The massage is invigorating, revitalizing and an uplifting treatment working on the upper back, shoulders, scalp and face. These areas are massaged with a firm and gentle rhythmic fashion involving Marma points (acupressure points). Traditionally Ayurvedic oils are massaged into the scalp for their many therapeutic properties. The use of oils is optional.
This particular form of massage can be used to relieve eyestrain, insomnia, migraines, stiff necks and shoulders and headaches. It also relaxes and tones the facial muscles and stimulates and nourishes the hair and scalp.
For complex conditions, a course of treatments may be advised, but once you discover the benefits of Indian Head Massage, you may decide to have Indian Head Massage on a regular basis.
Regular Indian Head Massage can result in numerous health benefits being felt by the client.
About Hopi Ear Candles
Thermal Auricular Therapy (also known as Hopi Ear Candles) is a pleasant and non-invasive treatment of the ears, used to treat a variety of conditions.
These ear candles induce a revitalising heat upon the head and ears, which soothes, relieves and relaxes.
A Brief History of Hopi Ear Candles
This is an ancient and natural therapy handed down by many civilisations. It is believed that the Ancient Greeks used ear candles, initially probably for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual basis, but much later on a purely physical basis. However, the practice reached the modern world via the native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona (it's interesting to note that Hopi means peaceful people). Ear candles were used traditionally by Shamen healers. Ancient wall paintings show their importance in initiation rituals and healing ceremonies of the tribe. The candles are still made today on the basis of the old traditional formula originating from the Hopi Indians.
How do Hopi Ear Candles work?
The candles are made from the natural ingredients of beeswax, honey extracts, sage, St Johns Wort, chamomile, beta-carotene and organically grown flax. A constant high quality is ensured. The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing any impurities to the surface where they can be gently removed. They equalise the pressure in the head and ears, making them suitable for most conditions. Secretion flow is gently stimulated and the vapour collects and removes impurities or deposits. Most of these are carried away through the candle "chimney", although some of them can be found in the condensed candle wax residue after removal from the ear, or could even work their way up to the surface 24-48 hours after
About Bach Flower Therapy
Bach flower essences (remedies) form a part of alternative medicine. They comprise a therapeutic system that uses dilutions of flower essences developed by Dr. Edward Bach to balance physical and emotional disturbances. In the world of flowers Dr. Bach found resonances of the conditions he found in his patients. He believed the right essence can help to bring back the patient to a positive, happy condition. Dr. Bach distilled the essence of certain flowers, and chooses the right ones for the state of being of a patient.
Dr. Bach knew that the human being is more than a physical body. The human being incorporates a body of life energy, a body of sensitivity and feelings, and a spiritual body. Flower essences are energetic imprints of the life force of plants. Dr Bach believed that the flower essences interact with the subtle bodies and so can help people with physical illness by addressing the emotional responses to their illness.
Bach flower essences (remedies) are similar to homeopathy in many respects. Bach flower essences are not dependent on the theory of successive dilutions, and are not based on the homeopathy's defining principle the 'Law of Similar' (‘like cures like'). Another difference between homeopathy and Bach flower remedies are the methods used to produce them. The production of Bach flower essences is handled in two ways, called 'potentization': the sun method and the boiling method, both invented by Dr. Bach.
There are 38 original Bach remedies plus 'Rescue Remedy TM' (First Aid, Five flower remedy), each prescribed for certain mental and emotional problems. They form a complete therapeutic system. Practitioners treat every variety of human emotional imbalances with the 38 Bach flower essences.
